Some horses will test you, some horses will teach you, and some horses will bring out the best in you.

Our Herd

Here at Strides our horses come from all kinds of backgrounds. One of our favorite things to do here at Strides is to rescue horses or buy horses from auction to re-train and love. Whatever kind of horse it is you're looking to bond with, Strides likely has a personality you can love. Stay tuned for updates about new foals in 2023! We are expecting babies from Spicy and Zena!

"Rogue"

Rogue, a twelve year old gelding, is a fan favorite at Strides. He is petite, but very athletic. Rogue has attended all kinds of adventures since joining us including top 10 finishes in two endurances rides, an instructor beach trip, WAHSET, and winning a trot a pole class at the local jumping show. Rogue appears to be an arabian or arabian cross.

"Irish"

Irish is a 15yo un-raced Off The Track Thoroughbred (OTTB). Irish shines in everything she does, but especially dressage and jumping. Irish has the sweetest personality and loves people & attention.

"Zena"

Zena is 11 year old Friesian x Andalusian cross. Zena was not a rescue as her breed is very expensive and hard to come by. Zena was purchased as a bucket-list horse by Strides owner Leilani, because she always wanted a fancy horse like you see in the movies. Zena is strong willed and fiercely independent just like her namesake. Zena is incredibly safe for all levels of riders and enjoys occasional trail riding outings to stay fresh. Zena will have a 3/4 Friesian 1/4 Andalusian foal June of 2023 by Grail Quest Varekai.

"Spicy"

Spicy is a 18 year old retired barrel horse that has enjoyed other disciplines in retirement including fox-hunting, jumping, and dressage lessons. Spicy was unhappy in full retirement and enjoys giving lessons. Spicy is also due to foal in June 2023 by a bloodline very special to Stride's owner 2019 blue roan stallion King In The North that was sold in 2022 to help fund Stride's new barn.

"Griffin"

Griffin is a 15 year old Arabian gelding. He's already proven himself as a wonderful lesson horse, great WAHSET participant, and stellar trail mount. Griffin has completed two top 10 finishes in 50 mile endurance rides in 2023. We can't wait to see Griffin continue to shine as we have more opportunities to bring him places.

7719 AKA Coal

Born as a wild mustang in South Steens Oregon, Coal is Leilani's 2023 Mustang Challenge Horse. She has from April 15-Sept 1 to train and compete with Coal at the Oregon Horse Center. Leilani plans to adopt Coal at the end of the competition. Students have been enjoying following the journey of training a wild horse.

Rhody

Born as a wild mustang in South Steens Oregon, Rhody is a yearling filly that was part of the Teens and Oregon Mustangs winter 22-23 makeover. She was adopted by Strides at the adoption event at the conclusion of the competition. Since joining strides she has learned tricks such as spanish walk and lay down from our dedicated students that love spending time with her.
